Darrell Toma MSc, PAg (Dist.), CMC, has 40 years of experience as a professional management consultant with extensive community and Institute board volunteer experience. He has a BSc and MSc (Resource Economics) from the University of Alberta. He has completed numerous industry courses and attended the Banff School of Management (Advanced Marketing) and has been a speaker/ presenter at many Canadian and international conferences and workshops.

He is a Certified Management Consultant and Professional Agrologist. His experience includes consultant and Principal with Deloitte & Touche (13 years), two other consulting firms and Toma & Bouma (founder) since 1991. TCI continues as a specialty consulting firm. Darrell has worked on over 800 assignments concerning a wide variety of management problems in the public and private sector. He has specialized in economics and economic development, facilitation, marketing, policy analysis, business and strategic planning for senior management.

He has industry experience in: agri-food, environmental and professional services, post-secondary, government, regional innovation and economic development, manufacturing networks, NGOs, rural developments and small business. His interests include: innovation, economic policy, business reviews, lean and productivity improvement, strategy and technology feasibility, within team-based projects. He has authored many publications, presented speeches and workshops and has been an expert commentator in the media. He has worked in Australia, Canada, Chile, Korea, Egypt, Mexico, Hong Kong and the USA.
